Is the Bombardier CRJ the only aircraft that Project Phoenix is converting to a VIP configuration?
The Bombardier CRJ-200 is the first aircraft we are converting but we have not limited ourselves to only this aircraft. We are currently researching other aircraft for suitability for a conversion program. We are looking at the Boeing 737 series, the Airbus A319/320 and the MD-80 series.
Does the standard Phoenix CRJ have the long range fuel tank installation?
No. The long range fuel tank installation is optional. In many cases the tank may not be necessary depending on the operational requirement of the owner. Whilst the tank provides an additional 800 nautical miles of range it does have an impact on payload, runway and climb performance and reduces the available baggage area.
How many seats are there in the Phoenix CRJ?
The baseline specification is for 15 seats, which we consider optimal. However, the aircraft can be certified for up to 19 passengers.
The CRJ is reportedly quite a noisy aircraft inside the cabin. Does the Phoenix CRJ have the same noise levels?
No. The Phoenix CRJ is one of the quietest executive aircraft ever. Besides using the latest noise insulation materials, the inclusion of the aft lavatory moves the cabin forward several feet further from the engines. In addition, if the long range tank is installed, this acts to further reduce noise in the cabin.
The Phoenix CRJ baseline specification assumes an aircraft with 20,000 airframe hours. Why?
Project Phoenix decided to use 20,000 hours as a benchmark. As the aircraft has an airframe life of 80,000 hours and cycles, at 20,000 hours the airframe is at only 25%of its design life. Bearing in mind that the average VIP aircraft will do less than 1,000 hours per year, the theoretical life remaining of the aircraft is over 60 years. In addition, Project Phoenix put all the CRJ’s through an extensive maintenance program prior to delivery.
Can Project Phoenix provide an airframe with lower airframes hours?
Certainly. However, these aircraft will attract a premium price due to a higher Green Aircraft purchase price.
Can I choose my own layout, materials and colours?
Absolutely. This is one of the many things that differentiate Project Phoenix from our competitors. All our interiors are custom designed to the exact requirements of the buyer.
Can the Phoenix CRJ be financed?
Yes. Several banks, financial institutions and leasing companies have expressed interest in providing finance for the Phoenix CRJ.
